The Daily Life of Being the Campus Idol’s Fake Boyfriend Chapter 17

For the second round, Zhen Yue Ze really chose to play the offlane position. Qi Feng continued to solo the middle lane and thus Ling Ke, Chao Si and Li Qi Xing played the other two lanes.

Guys will usually be reverent of someone who is able to display prowess in a game. After Ling Ke had showcased his outstanding skills, the three people had started to look at him differently and their attitude towards him had also became warmer.

At the start, Chao Si and Li Qi Xing were still rather aloof with Ling Ke but after witnessing Ling Ke’s skills, they started to warm up to him.

Light Commander: “0, are you local?”

Lin_K: “en” (T/N: ‘en’ was in english and it means ‘yeah’)

My sister cannot be younger than me by three months: “0, how many years have you played DotA?”

Lin_K: “2”

My sister cannot be younger than me by three months: “I have also played DotA for two years. How come you are so pro? How did you get to this level?”

Lin_K: “Practice”

My sister cannot be younger than me by three months: “……”

Ling Ke’s replies were all rather brief, giving him a ‘cool’ vibe.

When Ling Ke said “practice”, he wasn’t being sarcastic. It was really out of experience that he had said this.

Ling Ke had originally downloaded DotA because of Qi Feng but this did not mean that he regarded playing DotA as a leisure activity.

Ling Ke’s personality was such that no matter what he does, he must have a goal to work towards. Once he does something, there must be results: he must win.

In order to improve his skills, he had familiarize himself with the different strategies and watched numerous gameplays. He practised how to aim his skills; how to manoeuvre his character around the map, even attempting different roles.

To others, this may seem like a rather dry job but to Ling Ke it was something that he was used to. His experience with the piano when he was young had already cultivated his  mental fortitude such that it was sharper than a knife.

Playing DotA and playing the piano was pretty similar. When one has a technique that he is unsure of, he just needs to keep practising. One hundred times, two hundred times. You only need to keep practising until you become familiar with it. Once it becomes something like an instinct, then you would be fine.

Many people played DotA just for the fun of it. Hence, Ling Ke only had to put in a bit more effort and he was able to become a much better player than most people.

Ling Ke was able to enter F Univeristy. This meant that his results were probably also top-notch. To be able to meet someone who was proficient in both games and studies and having such a ‘cool’ personality to top it off, Li Qi Xing and the others could not help feeling a sense of admiration.

Chao Si attempted to coax this top-notch player into their team: “0, do you have a fixed team?”

Lin_K: ” no” (T/N: again in english)

Ling Ke did have classmates who played DotA. However, he felt that playing together was too much of a hassle. Furthermore, one does not need to hone his teamwork skills to improve his own skills in the game. It was fine as long as Ling Ke was able to solo the whole game.

My sister cannot be younger than me by three months: “Then 0 do you want to join our team?”

Upon saying this, Ling Ke suddenly stopped replying.

Chao Si and Li Qi Xing stiffened. They thought that Ling Ke was going to reject their offer. However, after five minutes, another sentence appeared on the screen.

Lin_K: “OK, but stop calling me 0”

Chao Si and Li Qi Xing momentarily collapsed onto the floor.

They could not understand why Ling Ke was dissatisfied with such a simple and easy-to-type nickname.

Although Ling Ke gave off a feeling of a straight guy, Qi Feng could not help thinking: If Ling Ke is a gay, and also a number 1*……

Shit, if he really is a number 1, then there wouldn’t be any difference between him and a straight guy.

Because Qi Feng was also a number 1.

His mind was filled with needless brooding until Zhen Yue Ze’s plea interrupted his train of thoughts, “Hey, your friend here is being surrounded and you guys still have the leisure to chat with each other! Someone, come and help me!”

The opponents in this match were slightly stronger. Zhen Yue Ze was unable to handle fighting three opponents and was easily killed off by the enemy, ultimately becoming a true ‘martyr’.

After dying for the third time and seeing that his friends were still chatting with each other, he had exploded.

But Zhen Yue Ze’s grumbling did not win his friends’ sympathy. Chao Si even laughed at him. “Hahaha, No zuo no die why you try.” (T/N: this sentence is in english. It is a Chinese internet meme and mean that “one would not be in trouble had one not asked for it”)

My sister cannot be younger than me by three months: “Choosing to play the offlane position means that you should be prepared to sacrifice yourself. Just accept your fate!”

Moonlight knight: “Fuck your sister!”

My sister cannot be younger than me by three months: “Why don’t you try!”

Moonlight Knight: “You beast! Sacrificing your sister!”

Light Commander: “Feng Zi go AF your Xiao Yue Yue. He is going to explode soon.”

Qi Feng’s eyebrow twitched. This was the first time he was feeling embarrassed by his friends’ coarse language.

He hoped that Ling Ke would choose to ignore their conversation. However, he did not expect the usually silent Ling Ke to choose such a moment to be curious. “What is AF?”

Qi Feng: “…..”

Li Qi Xing directly typed into the chatbox a series of “hahahahahhahaha”.

Chao Si explained, “AF = Anal F@ck = Love ♂️.”

Moonlight Knight: “Come, Feng Zi, come fuck me!”

……

Ling Ke was astonished.

Even though most people in this generation were considered to be more open-minded, he had never seen such bold language before. In his previous schools, even the fujoshi and the guys who provided material for these fujoshi were never so daring in their speech.

Of course, this could probably be because of Ling Ke’s cold personality. Ever since he realized his sexuality, he had purposefully kept his distance from the guys around him. Hence, there was no one who would joke with him like that.

Seeing them chat so casually with each other, Ling Ke felt as though a door to a new world has been opened!

He did not expect that Qi Feng’s interactions with his friends would be so…unreserved.

Was that how straight guys communicate with each other?

Remembering Gao Jun Fei and Qi Feng’s reaction to the forum, it suddenly dawned upon Ling Ke that whether it was the matter regarding the couple bowl or Qi Feng’s post in his Wechat, or even Qi Feng’s light-hearted teasing in Mandarin Duck Lake and the gossip in the forum, it was really him, this fake straight guy, thinking too much.

——A straight guy in this new world, couldn’t care less about such a joke.

After Zhen Yue Ze had finished his sentence, Qi Feng had only replied with a simple “Scram”.

Ling Ke peeked at Qi Feng’s expression and noticed that he did not even feel an ounce of awkwardness. His usual smile remained fixed on his face.

……As expected, he does not seem to care much.

In the subsequent games, Ling Ke continued to observe Qi Feng’s interactions with his friends as he built on his own knowledge.

No brothers don’t DotA together.

Playing together was the easiest way to strengthen one’s friendship.

Qi Feng was good at the game. Together with Ling Ke, another top-notch player, they were able to win most of the games even when their other teammates were getting wrecked.

Just from one night of gaming together, Ling Ke became much more familiar with Qi Feng and his friends. After the game ended, Chao Si even took the initiative to add him on WeChat. The others immediately followed suit.

Ling Ke was unable to reject their requests and gave them his WeChat ID.

Li Qi Xing even created a WeChat group so that it was easier for the five of them to play together again.

Even though Qi Feng had tried to prevent this from happening, the inevitable had still happened.

After they had logged off, it was time for them to wash up and sleep.

Ling Ke and Qi Feng bathed quickly and Qi Feng asked Ling Ke to help him apply the medication again.

Since it was the second time, Ling Ke was already quite indifferent to such ‘skinship’. It was just that when he was applying the medication, he could not help remembering the “Anal F@ck” that Chao Si had mentioned in the game and almost got a hard-on……

After changing his blanket, Ling Ke was unsure of what to do with the blanket which he had used for only one night. After all, his skin was not sensitive to the blanket. Throwing away the blanket was a waste but leaving it there also seemed to be a waste of space.

Gao Jun Fei happened to witness this. “You both don’t want you old blankets? Can you give them to me if you don’t want them? I will help you to recycle them.”

Qi Feng chuckled. “If you want it, just take it…don’t need to talk about recycling it…I still have to thank you for saving me the time to go downstairs to throw it away.”

Ling Ke also gave his blanket to Gao Jun Fei. Just at the moment he was handing his blanket to Gao Jun Fei, his mind suddenly flashed with a thought: Gao Jun Fei probably isn’t going to sell it off as a new one, right?”

Even though he felt that it would be a bit weird, Ling Ke was not a clean freak. He thought to himself, “Well, it was a blanket that was only used once, it wouldn’t be that dirty away.” So he did not say anything more.

After Ling Ke climbed into bed, he quickly opened his WeChat to look at Zhen Yue Ze, Chao Si and Li Qi Xing pages, hoping to find information related to Qi Feng.

His efforts were not without result.

Especially Zhen Yue Ze’s page – almost one-third of its content involved Qi Feng. He had posted many photographs of him and Qi Feng together, including the two of them eating together, karaoking, playing basketball – there were photographs that were taken both inside and outside of school – almost any type of photographs were available.

However, the photographs he posted were much different from the ones Qi Feng posted – Qi Feng only posted photographs that were aesthetic-looking whereas Zhen Yue Ze’s photographs appeared to be more informal and casual – those that he posted right after he had taken them. If Qi Feng did not have such an outstanding appearance that was able to retain its attractiveness despite the unglamorous angles which Zhen Yue Ze had taken the photograph from, Zhen Yue Ze would probably have been beaten to a pulp by Qi Feng.

In contrast, Chao Si and Li Qi Xing had less content about Qi Feng in their pages, showing that Zhen Yue Ze and Qi Feng were closer.

Ling Ke added many of these new photographs into his collection – this photo was good; Qi Feng was very handsome in that photo……it was as if a fanboy had gotten hold of his idol’s CD – overflowing joy.

At the same time, he could not help feeling jealous of Zhen Yue Ze, jealous that he had known Qi Feng for so many years; jealous that they were able to make such bold jokes with each other in the game……

However, this sense of jealousy was completely different from his jealousy of the girls whom had been rumored to be with Qi Feng.

After all, friendship is friendship, love is love. Ling Ke had never thought of crossing the line between the two.

As long as he was able to attain a position like Zhen Yue Ze in Qi Feng’s heart, he would be satisfied.

Just now in the game, he heard them saying that Zhen Yue Ze and Chao Si were going overseas to study in England at the end of November while Li Qi Xing was going to Canada next week.

As the proverb says, “The man who’s near to the river gets the moon first”. Ling Ke could not help thinking that since Zhen Yue Ze was leaving and Qi Feng was pretty close to him now, he might as well take the opportunity to replace Zhen Yue Ze’s position in these few years.

As soon as this thought popped out in his head, he felt like there was a fire igniting in his heart.

Ling Ke could hear his own heart thumping loudly. Lying in the comforts of his blanket, Ling Ke blinked his eyes several time – his eyes were shining with an unprecedented fire.

In the morning, Qi Feng woke up groggily from his sleep. He took out his handphone to check the time and clicked the WeChat notification out of habit.

He had several new notifications from his social network. As he was scrolling through them, he suddenly perked up.

Last night, Ling Ke had liked his “new friend” post and even replied with a smiley face.

Qi Feng could not help grinning like an idiot. He saw that the bed opposite him was already empty – Ling Ke had once again woken up earlier than him.

He peeked out of his bunk bed and saw that Ling Ke was changing below. A slender waistline was revealed as he put on a T-Shirt, alluring Qi Feng…

Stifling a yawn, he lazily called out to Ling Ke.

Ling Ke raised his head and smiled at him. “You have woken up?”

Qi Feng: “……”

After getting down from bed, Ling Ke took the initiative to ask, “Is your back better?”

“Yup, it is a lot better……”

……what’s with this situation? How come the Ling Ke today felt a little different from the Ling Ke yesterday?

Gao Jun Fei had also awoken. He had just came out from the bathroom, so Qi Feng went in to wash up.

Seeing that it was already around nine, Gao Jun Fei frowned, “I say, when is the last guy coming? The opening ceremony is going to start at ten. Is he even coming?”

Ling Ke took out a pair of spectacles from his drawer and said, “I am not sure either. Qi Feng has his number, maybe he can ask.”

The rim of the spectacles was gold in color. Putting on the spectacles enhanced Ling Ke’s scholarly looks and gave him a sense of solemnity and forbidenness.

Qi Feng stiffened when he got out from the bathroom. “You…have short-sightedness?”

“Slightly, the degree isn’t that high.”

Qi Feng stared at him for two seconds and smiled, “You look more handsome with your spectacles.”

Ling Ke: “…….”

Qi Feng had heard Ling Ke’s conversation with Gao Jun Fei so he directly took out his phone to send a message to Xie Qi Bao.

Xie Qi Bao replied, “I am still eating breakfast with my parents. I don’t think I will be able to make it in time if I return to the hostel, so I am going to the hall directly.”

After Qi Feng had read the message, he noticed that Ling Ke was taking out an A4 paper from his drawer. “What’s that?”

“My script.”

“……script?” Gao Jun Fei immediately turned around. “My god, you are the new student representative?”

“Yup…”

Most colleges would usually pick the student who had scored the highest in the entrance exam to be the new student representative. The job of the student representative was to deliver a speech in the school opening ceremony. Gao Jun Fei dubbed the student representative as the “know-it-all”.

He really did not expect to meet such outstanding people through a randomly assigned room – one of them having the potential to be the college number one in looks and the other being the new student representative.

Now, Gao Jun Fei was eager to find some sense of existence from his fourth roommate.

Qi Feng was also curious. “When did you start preparing?”

The fresh smell of mint emitting from Qi Feng’s breath made it hard for Ling Ke to breathe. “One week ago……the counselor called me.”

Being so close to the hormones of someone he likes was already proving to be a challenge to Ling Ke. However, since he had already made up his mind, he was prepared to take up the challenge.

Qi Feng’s smile, he could resist.

Qi Feng leaning in towards him, he could resist.

Qi Feng putting his arms around his shoulder, he felt that he could resist.

If he couldn’t, how else would they become friends?

—-to remain calm even with such stimulation – this would be how straight guys interact with each other.

*so 0 is the uke and 1 is the seme: I think you can get it from the shape of the 0 and 1. Wow so Ling Ke also wants to be a seme heheheh

Extra:

Ling Ke: Faster, go AF your friend.

Qi Feng *remains smiling* : I only want to AF you.

Ling Ke *poker face* : Come, AF me.

Qi Feng: ………………!!! ( OTL You will definitely be taken advantage of like that!)
