Each faculty had their own orientation.

Ling Ke only realized that the students next door were also from the media faculty, after they had left the hostel. Under Gao Jun Fei’s genial invitation, the group of them went to the hall together.

Even though barely half of the students had arrived at the hall, Qi Feng’s and Ling Ke’s arrival still managed to cause much of a commotion.

Perhaps, the highlight of the orientation wasn’t listening to the speaker rhapsodized about the honor of entering such a prestigious college; neither was it the fact that the orientation marks the prelude of the start of ones’ dreams and aspirations, rather the highlight was how all these students from vastly different backgrounds were gathered together at this point in time –  how student xxx was able to get into this prestigious college despite coming from a small town.

So many youthful faces, shimmering with optimism and curiosity – each gazing at one another curiously; slowly inspecting the other, as though trying to find a confidant in the other person; someone whom they could click with. Whether it was because of that person’s appearance, aura or talent, they were all trying to find that someone who can confirm that their decision in coming here was not wrong.

Hence, when Qi Feng, who had a strong distinctive aura and an impeccable appearance, came into the hall, everyone eyes lit up. Not to forget that there was an equally outstanding Ling Ke standing next to him.

There were much whispering where the group passed. It was as though the people around them had blended into the background.

Many of the girls had become restless and excited as they gazed dreamily at Ling Ke’s and Qi Feng’s every aciton.

But what made them almost screamed out loud was what happened after the both of them had sat down – Qi Feng inclining his head towards Ling Ke and whispering something to him. The charming smile. The warm look in his eyes. Ling Ke’s eyes also lit up as he turned to reply him. Both of them met each other gazes for two seconds, before turning back to the front again.

It was just a short exchange but the warmth, the ambiguity, the rapport, and the sweetness that was overflowing from that exchange was like a bolt of electricity electrifying the girls!

There were girls in the front row who originally did not know each other. Both of them had tears in their eyes and were so agitated by the scene they could barely speak. They turned to each other and could immediately tell that the other party had the same sentiments – Ahhh! That’s great! Ahhhh! So moe! So handsome!

In actual fact, the ones who had gotten a heavy blow were not just the girls but also Qi Feng.

Just now, Qi Feng was actually whispering to Ling Ke,”It’s over. I think those people already know who we are.”

Ling Ke quickly came to a realization that Qi Feng was referring to the gossip on the school forum.

If it was twelve hours ago, Ling Ke probably wouldn’t know what to say in reply to Qi Feng.

Qi Feng was looking in front, wearing a usual smile on his face. However, deep inside, he  was actually in a mess.

Ling Ke was not any better actually. His heart was thumping loudly as he continuously reminded himself that a straight guy would definitely be able to endure being made into a material by the fujoshis. Stay calm, and relax!

After the other half of the students had arrived, the orientation officially started.

F University’s media faculty had around three hundred students this year. Including those research students, there were barely any empty seats left.

First, it was the faculty head, then the teachers’ and counselors’ turn to address the new students. The student representative would be the last to make his speech.

“Next, let’s have the student representative of  the media faculty 201X batch to come up on stage to give his speech.” Ling Ke could feel all the eyes turn on him as he stood up amidst the thunderous applause that had rang out around him. He was so nervous he was sweating buckets as he made his way up towards the stage.

Fortunately, Ling Ke had a face that could look calm and collected even when he was actually feeling very nervous.

Before leaving his seat, Ling Ke hesitated for a moment before taking out his glasses and placing it on the seat.

Qi Feng immediately took his glasses and inspected it with some interest. He then held it in his hands loosely as he turned to look at Ling Ke.

When Ling Ke got up the stage, he first bowed to the faculty head and the teachers, before turning to face the audience. He took out his script and started reading from it. “Good afternoon my respected teachers, as well as my fellow students. I am Ling Ke from the media faculty. It is my pleasure to be standing here today to give a speech on behalf of the first-year students…”

Qi Feng gazed at Ling Ke’s face. He could finally stare at Ling Ke openly. His eyes eagerly drank in Ling Ke’s handsome profile.

The audience also stared intently at Ling Ke. Ling Ke’s speech was both meticulous and serious, exactly like the way Ling Ke presented himself. However, everyone were listening to his speech very closely.

The main reason was because of Ling Ke’s gorgeous looks. Together with his crisp clear voice, Ling Ke’s presence was like a cooling fountain, soothing the heart of the audience , especially after nearly two hours of speeches by the various school staff.

His speech was also very concise. One, two, three, four. After finishing all his points, he quickly summarized his speech. Without giving the audience time to react, his speech has already ended.

The audience burst into thunderous applause – the applause evidently louder than the one given after the faculty head’s and the other teachers’ speeches.

Ling Ke’s palm was still sweating profusely as he walked down the stage. His mind was in a blank.

Only until Qi Feng helped him put on his spectacles, did he manage to recover his senses.

Qi Feng grinned at Ling Ke and asked in a low voice, “Why did you take off your specs just now?”

The speech has used up all his energy. He did not have the strength to put up a pretense so he confessed, “”I was……nervous.”

“Taking off your specs will make you feel less nervous?”

“My vision will be blurry after taking off my specs, so I can pretend I can’t see the audience.”

Qi Feng could not help chuckling as he heard Ling Ke’s reply. His gaze swept through the other students and he lowered his voice further. “I think you look especially calm on stage.”

“……but I was truly very nervous on stage.”

“Besides you taking of your specs, were there any other signs of your nervousness?”

“I memorized my script.”

Qi Feng understood. If Ling Ke was not nervous, he might not have stuck to his script.

At this moment, he suddenly realized how unfathomable Ling Ke was — how strong does a person’s mental fortitude has to be in order for others to to be unable to discern what he is feeling?

“I could not tell.” Qi Feng muttered softly, as though talking to himself. He turned to Ling Ke. “Do you still have other occasions where you feel nervous?”

“Hmm?” Hit by a barrage of questions, Ling Ke barely had time to ward against them.

“Yes, I have.”

“For example?” Qi Feng was curious.

“When I am with you.”

Qi Feng: “……!”

Seeing Qi Feng’s startled expression, Ling Ke chuckled. “I was just kidding.”

Qi Feng: “…….”

“Ha, it doesn’t matter since you can’t tell anyway,” Ling Ke said.

Qi Feng laughed drily before turning away and remaining silent.

Ling Ke also collected back his gaze. His heart was pounding, If he had not suddenly remembered what Qi Feng had said to him at Mandarin Duck Lake yesterday, he really did not know how to cover up his mistaken outburst.

Prior to this, he really could not imagine joking with Qi Feng about something like this!

But just now, he seemed to have succeeded?

After the feelings of astonishment had passed, a sense of agitation inundated Ling Ke’s senses.

His brain was still taking in the previous scene, analyzing Qi Feng’s reaction and expression.

Besides the slight frustration at knowing that he had fallen for the joke, Qi Feng did not really seem to be affected much.

It was at this moment that Ling Ke finally understood. As long as he was able to completely forget the fact that he was a gay, there was almost nothing that he couldn’t do!

Because he could easily treat whatever he say as a joke. Even if he accidentally blurt out his inner feelings towards Qi Feng, it wouldn’t matter. Because straight guys would always joke about something like that. As long as he did not take it to be real.

This really felt…like a cheat!

Ling Ke eyes were wide open as he pushed up his glasses and tried to hide his inner agitation.

The orientation was immediately followed upon by the class meeting.

There were four specializations in the media faculty. Each specialization had two classes. Ling Ke and his hostel friends were all in Media Faculty (1) class. Upon realizing that the faculty’s two most handsome guys were assigned to their class, (1) class girls were literally jumping for joy as though they had won the lottery.

“I finally see you guys!” Having came late, Xie Qi Bao did not sit with them. It was only now that he had managed to squeeze through the crowd to find them. Seeing Ling Ke, his face immediately lit up with admiration. “Ling Ke, I didn’t expect you to be the student representative. The speech was really too good!”

Ling Ke smiled slightly as he replied humbly, “It was nothing much.”

Xie Qi Bao rubbed his nose. He did not really know how to interact with Ling Ke. Ling Ke’s reply had left him without much room to continue the conversation so he could only turn to Qi Feng. “Qi Feng, I was sitting at the back just now. The girls were trying to get your name!”

Qi Feng smiled. “Really?”

“Of course, they seemed to be mentioning about some picture on the forum……”

Ling Ke: “……” Looks like after today, the whole school would know which faculty and which class he and Qi Feng were from.

Qi Feng gave a short cough and quickly changed the topic. “Come, let me introduce you to our other roommate, Gao Jun Fei.”

Gao Jun Fei stood beside Qi Feng. His arms folded across his chest as he raised his eyebrows at Xie Qi Bao but made no attempt to greet him.

This posture immediately frightened Xie Qi Bao. “Umm, hello……”

Gao Jun Fei replied with a cool “En”. He did not attempt to be cordial.

Xie Qi Bao drew his head back. He suddenly felt that heavens was being cruel to him!

It was only today when he reported to the orientation did he realize what “good luck” he had to have such roommates. Originally, he had thought that his last roommate would be a bit more normal and let him feel a bit more at ease. However, he did not expect to have another cool roommate! And still it was someone from the north! His height! And that pair of long legs! He could clearly tell that Gao Jun Fei was not someone he could mess with!

Shit, what did he do wrong? Why did heavens had to assign him, a 1.7 metre person, with a bunch of cool guys with an average height of 1.8m?

After a short while, the counselor herded the students into a classroom and the class meeting started.

After a series of short introductions, the counselor’s gaze fell on Ling Ke and Qi Feng. He jokingly said. “The guys in your class are pretty outstanding. This type of handsome guys is rare even in F University. Treasure these four years of interactions with each other.”

The class burst out into laughter. The atmosphere instantly lightened.

Media Faculty Class (1) had a total of thirty-six students – sixteen boys and twenty girls. There were the shy and introvert type and also the cheerful and extrovert type. With the guidance of the counselor, everyone slowly started to warm up to each other.

For the guy’s side, the one with the most words was Gao Jun Fei. Ling Ke sneaked a glance in Qi Feng’s direction. He thought that Qi Feng, being a very sociable person, would definitely had more to say in such a situation. But he did not expect him to be so quiet today, simply wearing a slight smile on his face as he listened to other people’s conversations.

Of course, Ling Ke was also pretty silent throughout the class meeting. He had always kept to himself so it was no surprise.

After that, the counselor had to choose two representatives for the class – one girl and one boy.

Being the student representative, Ling Ke had originally caught the attention of most of his classmates. However, after the brief class meeting, Gao Jun Fei’s amiable personality stood out more.

The counselor concluded, “So the temporary student representative for the girls is Zhang Wen Xin, for the guys its Gao Jun Fei. You all can privately create a chat group for the class. From tomorrow onward, it is boot camp training. After boot camp, you all will be more familiar with each other. After that we will vote for the actual class representative.”

And so Gao Jun Fei and Zhang Wen Xin became their class chairperson and secretary.

After the class meeting had ended, Gao Jun Fei and Zhang Wen Xin stayed back to discuss some matters. Some classmates had already gathered into groups to eat at the canteen.

There were even some classmates who were already planning an outing to the cinema in the afternoon.

“Hey, Ling Ke, Qi Feng, do you guys have free time?”

Ling Ke and Qi Feng had just walked to the exit when they were stopped by someone. As the two most handsome guys in the faculty and perhaps even the whole college, the both of them would most likely continue to be in the spotlight in class.

Ling Ke thanked the person as he rejected the offer. After listening to one whole morning of speeches and having to give one himself, he was feeling quite lethargic and he just wanted to return to his room to rest.

Hearing Ling Ke’s reply, Qi Feng smiled as he winked. “Then, I am also not going. Maybe next time.”

At this moment, a girl suddenly came up beside the girl who had organised the outing and asked, “Do you know that the college forum has a photo of the both of you?”

Ling Ke: “……”

This time Qi Feng did not try to evade the question. He blatantly said, “I know.”

“Then do you guys know……” The girl’s face had reddened and she was stuttering, “The online people are guessing that the both of you are…….”

Ling Ke felt a weight on his shoulders. Qi Feng had hugged Ling Ke! He grinned at the girls and asked flippantly, “Do you think we look like a pair?”

Ling Ke’s whole body stiffened. His mind was buzzing and his brain was filled with only one thought – One really has to pay the price for going out alone!

Qi Feng’s voice was both husky and gentle, overflowing with a type of natural charm and appeal.

The two girls’ faces instantly reddened to the tip of their ears. They stared at the both of them as they covered their mouths and squealed, “YES…YES…You guys look like one! Truly! Indeed!”

Ling Ke: “…….”

Ling Ke was calm on the surface but inside he was in a dilemma — Should he calmly push away Qi Feng? Or continue with this act? But he really couldn’t take this anymore! The stimulation is too much! He could barely tolerate this any longer!

What should he do? Push him away? Continue to act? Push him away? Continue to act? …….

Just when Ling Ke was about to reach his limit, Qi Feng let him go.

Ling Ke heaved a sigh of relief as he let out a weak smile and proceeded to the canteen with Qi Feng.

After Gao Jun Fei and Zhang Wen Xin had exchanged their contact details and finished their discussion about the training uniforms, they left the classroom only to see two girls from their class hugging each other and screaming, “Ahhhh……..too handsome!”

Gao Jun Fei instinctively took a step back. “What are the both of you doing?”

One of the girls explained, “Qi Feng and Ling Ke were too cute! Omg, being assigned to this class was the luckiest thing that had ever happened to me! I really can’t stand it anymore!”

Gao Jun Fei: “……”

The other girl continued, “Oh yeah, Gao Jun Fei, Qi Feng and Ling Ke are all from the same hostel, right?”

Gao Jun Fei suddenly felt an inspiration. He rubbed his chin and said to he girls, “Truth to be told, our room 412 have two blankets that have been eliminated……”

Ling Ke and Qi Feng were originally going to eat together with Xie Qi Bao. However, Xie Qi Bao received a call on their way to the canteen from his mother, saying that she had came to the hostel to find him and had even brought him something for him to eat. And so, Xie Qi Bao decided to return to the hostel.

It was only the two of them again. They were once again in the spotlight as they made their way to the canteen.

Maybe it was because Ling Ke had reached some enlightenment yesterday, he did not really feel so agitated by the stares now.

After they had eaten, Qi Feng went to the washroom. Ling Ke waited for him outside only to see a familiar face.

It was the senior whom he had gotten to know that day, Qi Qiu Fen.

“Ahh, what a coincidence. You guys went to the orientation today? How was it?”

After a short exchange of words, Qi Qiu Fen suddenly said, “Oh yeah, yesterday I sent you a WeChat message,. How come you didn’t reply?”

Ling Ke stiffened before remembering that he had given Qi Qiu Fen his original WeChat ID and these two days he had been using his new ID. He awkwardly took out his cell phone and said, “Err, why don’t you add my other ID? I don’t really use that ID any more.”

Upon hearing this, Qi Qiu Fen thought that Ling Ke had purposefully given him a WeChat ID that he rarely used. She laughed, “Wow, you really have some guts! Worried that I will disturb you? Adding me on an ID you rarely used!”

Qi Feng had just gotten out from the washroom and heard Qi Qiu Fen’s last sentence. He was bewildered. “What ID?”

Luckily, Qi Qiu Fen’s attention was caught by Qi Feng. “This is…Qi Feng?”

Qi Qiu Fen had seen Qi Feng at the reporting area and she remembered his name. But Qi Feng naturally did not remember her. Only after she had introduced herself again, did Qi Feng respectfully addressed her as “Senior”.

Ling Ke did not expect Qi Qiu Fen to immediately bring up the matter about the forum. She even smiled cryptically. “Both of you have risen to fame so quickly. It has only been two days and you both managed to be the topic of the school forum. I remember that both of you did not know each other before entering college. Don’t tell me you both really fell in love at first sight at Mandarin Duck Lake? Hahaha!”

Ling Ke felt a twitch in his eyes. Even though he had already psychologically prepared himself for this, he had almost drained up all his acting skills for the day after facing numerous ‘attacks’ today.

Just as he was about to come up with an explanation, Qi Feng suddenly answered. “I actually want to fall in love with Ling Ke at first sight. He he…” He grinned at Ling Ke. “But he is just so indifferent to me.”

Ling Ke’s lips twitched. He had finally died.
